The Intermezzo in A, op. 118, #2 is well-known by pianists as one of Johannes Brahms' gems of piano compositions. Brahms wrote this piece, along with 5 other piano pieces written between 1892-93, after friend and concert pianist Clara Schumann urged him to do so.
